Morocco Writers Retreat
In October 2022, we ran a week-long writing retreat in Morocco with Valise Travel Concierge.

We met in Marrakech, drove up to the Atlas Mountains, and nestled into a guest house at a gorgeous resort in the Oureka Valley. After four days, we returned to Marrakech, where we stayed for four days at an elegant riad. Every morning, we sat on the terrace and drank hot tea with fresh mint leaves, then settled in for two hours of writing workshops and one-on-one conferences, all held under the warm Moroccan sun. In the afternoons, we toured, hiked, and rode camels, and in the evenings, we dined on chicken and vegetable tagine, beef tangia and zaloouk (cooked eggplant and tomato salad), discussed great books, and listened to our writers read new material during “open mics.”
We went took a cooking class with Maison Arabe, visited mosques and synagogues, ventured into the souks and visited the fabulous Yves St. Laurent museum and Majorelle garden. It was exhilarating to be with a group of talented, motivated writers in breathtaking North Africa.
